Challenge

A chronic inflammatory condition was associated with significant patient burden; delayed diagnosis, fragmented care, repeated treatment cycles and limited involvement in long-term decision making were common features.

To improve care, our European client needed more than awareness; they needed a way to bring clinical and patient leaders together around the changes required in practice.

BRAVE Approach

BRAVE supported the creation of a European, multi-stakeholder Alliance, organised and funded by the client.

The Alliance brought together specialist clinicians, patient representatives, clinical societies and advocacy groups around a shared manifesto for change. Together, they mapped the patient journey to identify the most urgent care gaps and co-created practical tools to support better long-term management.

These included patient education materials and policy recommendations. National groups then adapted and deployed the resources locally, creating country-specific initiatives including primary care education, referral materials and nurse training.

Results / Impact

The Alliance created a connected platform for change across Europe.

Outputs included a European patient education booklet, a quality-of-care survey completed by 168 patients, a patient management tool accessed approximately 1,300 times in 12 weeks, and a European policy report with recommendations for policy makers.

​

Alliance members reported strong pride in the programme’s achievements, rating this 4.8 out of 5, and agreed they would recommend the tools to peers, scoring this 8.3 out of 10.
