Helping clinicians TO turn complex guidance into local action
A targeted education programme, supporting confident treatment decision-making in oncology
Communiqué 2026 Finalist
100% of respondents agreed that the education informed their clinical practice. By the end of the meetings, 86% had committed to treatment-related improvements and 67% to diagnostic pathway changes
Challenge
In a complex oncology setting, clinicians were navigating new treatment guidance, biomarker testing requirements and evolving questions around patient eligibility.

The challenge was not simply awareness; clinicians needed practical support to understand which patients could benefit, how testing should work in real-world pathways and how to integrate the treatment confidently into local practice.
BRAVE Approach
BRAVE supported the development and delivery of a cost-efficient, national education programme for oncology clinicians.

The programme combined a national expert-led webinar with local, facilitated "flip-classroom meetings", giving clinicians the opportunity to reflect on the evidence and translate learning into centre-specific action plans.

The education focused on three priorities: recognising eligible patients, building confidence in treatment integration and improving biomarker testing pathways. A clear, memorable story helped simplify complex decision making, supported by expert discussion, CPD accreditation, on-demand content, summary videos and follow-up engagement.
Results / Impact
The programme reached 157 medical oncologists across 11 local events, representing 73% of target centres and covering all UK regions.

Evaluation showed strong engagement, with 100% of respondents agreeing that the education informed clinical practice and supported local action planning.

By the end of the meetings, 86% of delegates had committed to treatment-related improvements and 67% committed to diagnostic pathway changes. A follow-up survey showed increased clinician confidence, stronger multidisciplinary collaboration, improved biomarker testing pathways and increased uptake of the treatment in appropriate patients.
