When launch strategy changes what’s possible

Launching a medicine is about far more than bringing a product to market. The true impact comes when scientific advances are translated into real-world patient outcomes

A very personal launch story shaped how I see the importance of launch strategy.

Someone close to me was diagnosed with cancer and, over the course of more than a decade, saw the disease spread across their body. Historically, the outlook for people in this situation would have been extremely poor; however, this person received a targeted therapy that transformed their prognosis and quality of life.

When I looked into the launch strategy for this targeted treatment, what struck me most was that launch success was not driven by scientific innovation alone. The right evidence was generated, clinicians were clearly informed of which patients would benefit, the MOA (Mechanism of Action) was explained, guidelines were updated and access pathways were in place to ensure that the treatment reached those who needed it most. The person I know (and thousands like them) is living a full and active life, in a way that would have been unimaginable before therapies like this became available.

For me, it is a powerful reminder that launching a medicine is about far more than bringing a product to market. The true impact comes when scientific advances are translated into real-world patient outcomes through effective education, adoption, and access.
