External stakeholder and engagement strategy

Our client was preparing for the launch of a rare disease product with no existing treatment options. They sought our support to identify and segment clinical leaders and develop tailored customer strategies.

We used a structured and thorough insight-gathering and assessment process to map external stakeholders according to agreed criteria and attributes relevant for the challenge at hand. We refined the list through building in additional data sources, enabling us to recommend appropriate experts for key activities. We then created visual, actionable profiles to simply and effectively communicate the information internally.

For this client and others facing similar challenges, this approach has allowed us to:

  • Create long-standing communities that are committed to improving patient outcomes

  • Work with communities to draft expert-endorsed scientific narratives that outline evidence for the burden of disease and need for change

  • Co-create scientific content with experts, driving meaningful scientific exchange and consistent communication

In this therapeutic area with limited clinical trial experience and highly variable patient pathways, strategic insight, flexibility, and pragmatism were key to ensure that our approach was sufficiently inclusive, visionary, and practical in order to be actionable in support of launch.
